Maggie is a Tucson-based artist working in her studio located in the Tucson Mountain Park area. She also teaches art at Valencia Middle School to some very talented 6th - 8th grade students. Maggie relocated to Tucson from Boston in 2018 where her studio was in the Midway Artist Building in the Historic Fort Point District. She earned a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she discovered her love of drawing, painting and sculpting. Soon afterwards she received her MFA in Sculpture from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. She has shown across New England, New York, Maryland and Wisconsin. Her work has been reviewed in the Boston Herald, ArtPoint, TimeOut Boston and CBS Boston.
In addition to developing her own portfolio she creates commissioned portraits of pets.
Her drawings and paintings have a strong subtle physicality that is informed by her training in sculpture, anatomy, massage and her work as a personal trainer. Maggie’s palette is earthy. She recycles clay from her old sculpture fragments to make paint, combining it with a variety of media including ink, watercolor, gouache, graphite, chalk and charcoal.
